How to view videos on an ipod nano

Have you ever thought that buying an ipod nano 1st generation was a waste of money because you cant even watch any videos? Well i can tell you how to make your ipod play videos.

Step 1:
First you need to download a software called rockbox, you can download it here.

Step 2:
After downloading the software you have to open it using WinRAR or any other .zip compatible software.

Step 3:
Open the rockbox installer and click on ipod nano 1st gen when the 'choose music player' pop up like thing comes up

Step 4:
Click on the 'complete installation' icon. You can also install only the bootloader and the software leaving out the themes and other extras by going to the second tab and clicking on the 'install bootloader' icon and then clicking on the 'install rockbox' icon.

Step 5:
Then convert a video file using an encoder, the best is WinFF, i used this because it has a preset for rockbox, you can download it here. If you have anydoubts with converting you can download the manual here. If you dont have a pdf viewer you can download it here.

Step 6:
Then go into the iPod drive (eg: E://), and make a root folder called 'Videos' or anything else. After that, copy the converted MPEG2 video file and paste it into the ipod's root folder

Step 7 (Bootup):
Then turn on your iPod and press and hold the select key+menu key until rockbox boots up. After it boots up click on the files icon and then click on the root folder and voila! you can now play videos on your ipod nano 1st generation.
